A Boardgame Birthday

Yesterday, was my birthday and I was lucky enough to spend it with one of my oldest and dearest friends, sitting at my table playing a game.

We chose the Settlers of Catan Card Game which took a little while to get going since he had never played and I hadn’t played it in half a year, but once we got things moving, we had a great time. It’s a fun game with enough randomness involved that you don’t have to overtax your melon to get through a turn. The production rolls were terrible all night and we got into a discussion about how useless gold is unless you have the mint card.

I tried to focus on getting my cities built as quickly as possible so that I could build a series of smaller works that would add to my victory points. This ended up be a winning strategy.

It was a perfect evening of gaming and a great birthday present.

  1. Wow… very cool. Happy birthday. Nothing better than a birthday with friends, family and boardgames 🙂
